Outstanding Diversity Network Award

BartsAbility provides support to staff living with a disability, staff or managers who have a colleague with a disability or staff who have an interest in building an inclusive environment. BartsAbility is a subgroup of the Trust’s Staff Diversity Network, which is a staff-led initiative, working together collectively to close the employment gap. The forward-thinking network held a series of Listening into Action (LiA) staff engagement events across five of the hospital sites. Outcomes from this event include the BartsAbility Workplace Passport – for reasonable adjustments in the workplace; Dyslexia Support Forum/Friends – a support forum for staff; ‘Access all areas’ – initiative to improve accessibility across each of the five hospital sites and this led to the Trust re-commissioning DisabledGo; training Mental Health First Aiders and lastly, the use of yellow name badges with aim of supporting patients who are visually impaired.
