Best Diversity Resource/Initiative Award
For the past 12 months Auto Trader has focused on an initiative to make their business more inclusive for neurodiverse people. Working in conjunction with The National Autistic Society, they interviewed 3 autistic colleagues to talk about their experience working for Auto Trader, undertook a detailed audit of their people policies and procedures, an environmental audit of their London and Manchester offices and finally they carried out training and awareness for employees. Creating an autism friendly environment, Auto Trader added quiet areas to their offices, clear signage, adjustable lighting, modified their reception desk and sign in area and created smaller pods allowing individuals to work by themselves away from the busy open plan office. As a result of their many changes, Auto Trader UK became the first company in the world to achieve the “Autism Friendly Award” by the National Autistic Society.
