Head of Diversity & Inclusion Award

Banji Adewumi provides strategic and operational leadership for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work programme at Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the largest Trust’s in the country, with a workforce of over 16,000, serving approx. 2.5million patients each year. Banji has continued to show leadership, commitment, passion and motivation, driving the Inclusion agenda throughout Barts Health NHS Trust and the wider community, working in partnership with stakeholders such as NHS England, NHS Employers and the local council to address inequality. Under Banji’s leadership Barts Health Trust has developed four subgroups (BartsAbility – Disability; BME; LGBTQ+ and Women’s) resulting in a number of organisational cultural changes ranging from career development programme for BME and Female staff, equality and inclusion forum on each hospital site, stonewall membership, community engagement, BartsAbility workplace passport, mental Health First Aiders and inclusive recruitment.
