SUMMARY:Round Table: DEI Must Live
DESCRIPTION:Date: Tuesday 26th March 2024\nTime: 15.30 – 17.00\nVenue: House of Lords\, Palace of Westminster \n\nYou may have seen a recent backlash to the principles of Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion\, including\, from the (in)famous Elon Musk\, who tweeted to the world\, On December 16\, 2023\, that DEI is a “propaganda” that promotes discrimination and racism. To quote: \n“DEI must DIE. The point was to end discrimination\, not replace it with different discrimination….“Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion” are propaganda words for racism\, sexism and other -isms. This is just as morally wrong as any other racism and sexism. Changing the target class doesn’t make it right!” \nThis created a huge outcry as people pointed out that DEI ensures white structural privilege and corporate discrimination doesn’t take over the western world. At the core of any organisation lie its people\, the driving force propelling its triumphs. \nInclusive Companies are pleased to partner with leading recruitment company Penna to host a round table event at the House of Lords\, chaired by renowned DEI strategist and practitioner Jiten Patel and change maker Paul Sesay\, to discuss why DEI must not only live but thrive. In the ever-evolving landscape of work culture\, Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion (DEI) have emerged as crucial pillars for success. We want to hear your thoughts on: \n\nWhy Leaders need to embrace DEI voluntarily\, and not simply do the regulatory minimum\nWhat are the imperatives for business leaders and employers to foster an environment where every member can unleash their full potential and contribute at their optimum.\nWhat does Inclusion actually look like for all members of the workforce and your customers / communities you serve\nHow can we as individuals and collectively further promote DEI in the workplace.\n\nThis round table will be an opportunity for you to share your successes and challenges in making DEI live on the corporate agenda. Further\, we will explore why\, in times of economic difficulty\, DEI is more important than ever to ensure that leaders consciously develop a culture of inclusion. \nFor over 15 years\, Inclusive Companies has been dedicated to addressing the insufficient representation of diversity in UK organisation’s whilst helping employers foster authentically inclusive workplaces where every employee’s differences are recognised and valued. In light of the comments made by Elon Musk\, Inclusive Companies is committed now more than ever. Let’s ensure that it means real action and explore what we can do as a collective\, as stakeholders\, organisations and networks to create a movement in which DEI not only lives but thrives. \n\nThis round table is limited to 20 people – to secure your place\, please email info@inclusivecompanies.co.uk \n\n

SUMMARY:Understanding Antisemitism
DESCRIPTION:Antisemitism is currently the fastest-rising form of racism in the UK. This alarming trend has led to an estimated 70% of British Jews feeling the need to hide their identity. The situation has grown so dire that nearly 50% of British Jews have considered leaving the country since October 7\, 2023. This rise in antisemitism highlights a critical need for increased awareness\, understanding\, and proactive measures to combat anti-Jewish racism and foster a safer\, more inclusive environment for all. Inclusive Companies is proud to partner with Understanding Antisemitism Matters to deliver this thought-provoking webinar on ‘understanding antisemitism’. \nContents: \n• The history of anti-Jewish hatred goes back 2\,000 years.\n• Recent statistics.\n• Real-life stories about the everyday lived experience of Jewish people.\n• Tools to create inclusive workplace environments.\n• A platform for employees to share experience and ask questions. \nKey Learnings: \n\nAwareness Gap: Many people lack awareness but are eager to listen and learn beyond their social media feeds.\nInclusive Conversations: Frame discussions by emphasising that supporting one community does not come at the expense of another\, reducing the discomfort of such conversations.\nStarting Conversations: You don’t need to be an expert on the Middle East or the history of antisemitism to discuss the Jewish experience.\nBlind Spot on Antisemitism: Antisemitism often isn’t viewed as racism and isn’t condemned like hatred against other minority groups. The term “antisemitism” can be confusing; “anti-Jewish racism” is clearer\, but we use “antisemitism” initially as it’s more familiar.\nEmpathy Misconception: People often mistakenly believe empathy is limited. In reality\, the more empathy you show\, the more you generate.\n\nRachel Vecht & Michal Oshman have 50 years‘ experience between them of nurturing inclusive workplace cultures\, retaining talent\, Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion & Belonging. They are thrilled to share their knowledge and encourage you and your colleagues to join the discussion. This impactful webinar is not one to be missed.    \n\n\n\n\nCo-facilitated by: \nRachel Vecht \nFounded Educating Matters in 2001 and partners with D&I\, L&D\, HR and ERGs to support employees worldwide. She guides\, educates and builds awareness around inclusion and culture change\, providing employee wellbeing training across many varied sectors. \n\nMichal Oshman \nDrove culture and leadership at TikTok and Meta where she used a blend of spirituality and leadership principles to create compassionate workplaces.
