Diversity Champion Award for Public Sector
Harjit K Bansal is the Equality & Diversity Manager for North East London (NELFT) NHS Foundation Trust. Under her leadership and stewardships, the trust has won various recognition and awards including being ranked as one of the top 20 Inclusive UK Employers. Harjit has touched many lives independently and has improved the management of equality and diversity issues for employees and service users at all levels of the organisation. She has ensured that Equality and Diversity mandatory training remain at 90 – 95% across all services, as well as implemented a Disability Awareness Programme across the Trust. Harjit was instrumental in the development of various networks, overseeing the Ethnic Minority Staff Network, LGBT network, Disability Network, Dyslexia and Specific Learning Disabilities Network, WoMen’s (Men and Women’s Network) and Just Us (a mental health Forum).
