West Midlands Fire Service

West Midlands Fire ServiceRanked No.1 – 2023/2024

For the second year running, West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) featured first place on the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List, ranking above all other employers and keeping their top spot. West Midlands Fire Service is the second largest Fire and Rescue Service in the UK protecting one of the most diverse populations in the country.

Their late Chief Fire Officer, Wayne Brown, showed his personal commitment to their goal of having a workforce that truly reflects the communities they serve, removing any barriers that prevent full participation and progression thereby ensuring equality for all. His influence enabled significant progress to be made with the service, which is now recognised as the leading Fire and Rescue Service in the country in terms of their diversity.

WMFS is leading the way in fostering diversity and inclusion within its ranks. With a strong commitment to building a more inclusive workforce, WMFS has achieved significant milestones, including a 17% representation of females and a 21% representation of individuals from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds among new entrants. This exceeds national averages and highlights the organisation’s dedication to reflecting the diversity of its communities.
