When Jackie’s teenage son sustained severe head injuries in a car crash, Jackie herself was diagnosed with dyslexia. Whilst trying to teach her son to learn to read and write again, Jackie realised the typical ways to address the relearning process didn’t work and so she developed a new, unique approach. Jackie is now the founder and CEO of The Cascade Foundation and has helped hundreds of individuals to address their learning difficulties and gain employment. The charities mission is to use this new approach to support and educate disengaged prisoners, ex-offenders and others with specific learning difficulties to transform their lives and reduce re-offending. The Cascade Health & Learning Hub, Doncaster opened in July 2017 as a multi-user hub for people with learning disabilities, primarily prisoners on ROTL, offenders and those deemed to be at risk of offending and their families.
