Banter and Inclusive Language

May 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Diverse Office workers in meeting

Facilitated by Chris Allan

It’s Just Banter is a practical, interactive lunch-and-learn workshop that explores how everyday language, jokes, and “harmless” banter can impact inclusion, wellbeing, and psychological safety at work. The session helps teams understand where the line is, why it matters, and how to challenge problematic behaviour confidently and constructively — without fear of “saying the wrong thing.”

Key outcomes:

  • A clearer understanding of when banter crosses the line into exclusion or harm
  • Increased confidence to call in or challenge language in the moment
  • Practical tools and shared language to support a more respectful, inclusive workplace culture

Chris AllanAbout the facilitator

Hi, I’m Chris.

For years, I’ve worked with organisations for the past 9 years, who care about inclusion, but aren’t always sure how to put it into practice.

Many feel overwhelmed by the language, worried about saying the wrong thing, or frustrated by initiatives that look good on paper but don’t change everyday behaviour.

My approach is honest, practical, and grounded in real conversations. I don’t do jargon or judgement — just clear, supportive guidance that helps people navigate tricky topics with confidence and care.
