Donna founded Calmer Therapy three years ago. Calmer Therapy provides support, advice, activities, training and much more to families who have children with additional needs and disabilities. Donna has two children with additional needs and worked full time when she started Calmer Therapy. She slowly reduced her working hours as the group started to grow, and in May this year she quit all of her jobs so that she could volunteer full time with Calmer Therapy. The organisation started as a small parent support group in South East Northumberland and has now expanded with branches in Berwick and Hexham, covering the North East, Scottish Borders and Cumbria. They provide NCFE training in Autism awareness, Mental Health awareness and Working with Learning Disabilities which is helping to raise vital awareness in the community. With Donna at its helm, Calmer Therapy support over 1000 families.
